Getting Started: Read the Task instructions and rubric carefully, accessed in your D198 Course of Study.
1. You will write an analysis of one work: choose the work from the Task 2 Lists of Works. Your choices include works of literature, art, and film. Choose just one work from the list.
2. Write your task on the UJM1 Task 2 Template (first Download it or open it in the Desktop App). Pro Tips: Write 1 fully developed paragraph for each of the 4 prompts (A1, A2, A3, and A4). You can use headings to organize your task, as modeled in the template. See this Task 2 Sample for further guidance.
A1. Describe the historical context or events that influenced the artist or the creation of the work.
A2. Analyze how this work reflects the technological innovations or innovative thinking from the period.
A3. Analyze how the work represents the community it was created for or about.
A4. Analyze how the work challenged ideas about the culture represented or what constitutes artistic expression.
Part A: Read Section 2 in your learning resource, paying special attention to the pages that correspond to the type of work (or discipline) that you have chosen (e.g., visual arts or literature).
▪ Read, watch, or examine your chosen work.
▪ Research and write each of the following:
▪ Describe the historical context of the work and explain how these events influenced the artist or the creation of the work.
▪ Analyze how this work reflects the technological innovations or innovative thinking from the period.
▪ Analyze how your artwork represents this community.
▪ Analyze how the work challenged ideas about the community it represents or how the work challenged ideas about what constitutes artistic expression.
This section will be approximately 1–2 paragraphs.

Part B: When you quote, paraphrase, or summarize your sources, you must cite your source information.
▪ Include an in–text citation after you use the source in the body of your paper using this format: (Author, date).
▪ Add a corresponding reference at the end of your paper.
