Write an in-depth character analysis of a character of your choosing from the novel. This can be a major character like Janie or Tea Cake or Joe Starks, or characters who play less prominent but still significant roles, like Mrs. Turner, Hezekiah, or Pheoby.

Consider a character’s motivations and complexities, the forces that empower/disempower them, and how they change (if they do) over the course of the novel. It can also relate aspects of the character to larger themes in the novel– like community, gender, self-discovery, race, folkways, etc.
