Discussion Prompt: Henry James Information Challenge

You are all now used to the idea of presenting some non-Wikipedia research on an author we are studying—especially since the author research prompt is always the most popular one for the first lecture of a particular work. For this prompt, there are multiple steps, all designed to have you do some digging.

Research Henry James in order to be able to respond to at least a couple of the following questions:

• Why might both the United States and England officially claim him? How is it possible that he is studied in both American Literature classes AND English Literature classes?
• Who was his famous brother, and in what profession is he still an important name?
• Identify 3 significant novels Henry James wrote by title and year of publication. For this response, it’s possible that there will be a large variety. It would be interesting to see what you all come up with.
