What to write in this short response: briefly summarize your selected reading; explain what it adds to your knowledge about Western Europe by using one concrete example from the reading; use themes such as politics, economy, and trade, cultural exchange, society, gender, ideology, etc. to identify the topic and your understanding of the reading.
Be specific in your response (use the basic historical dimensions: who, when, what, where, how; also, the basic elements of writing: beginning, paragraphs, conclusion) and conclude the response with your analysis of the topic.
