Topic: What is an evidence based approach for the teaching of writing for Dyslexic students?

Description: On the basis of the content covered in the unit, you will develop a question to investigate through wide reading of current literature. The question will relate to your own professional context, allowing you to demonstrate your understanding of the body of knowledge covered in the unit and your mastery of theoretical knowledge and professional practice, as it relates to your own circumstances. This task involves critical evaluation of theoretical and research literature in the area of interest, in order to demonstrate scholarship in the field of reading and/or writing difficulties.

Marking Criterion

Criterion 1

• a clear introduction with a thesis statement (an answer to the question or a response to the task) and a well-defined structure
• a logically structured body paragraphs which include supporting evidence from academic sources
• a clear conclusion which restates topic and summaries content

Criterion 2: Content

• content selected responds to the prompt clearly, directly, and fully
• extensive knowledge and/or experience with the topic is/are evident
• ideas are detailed, well-developed, supported with specific evidence and facts, as well as examples and specific details
• excellent synthesis of content that is highly relevant to the topic
• content has been sourced from contemporary scholarly references

Criterion 3: Communication

• writer’s style is fluent and flexible
• writer’s purpose of writing is very clear, and there is strong evidence of attention to audience
• all sentences are well constructed and have varied structure and length
• sources are exceptionally well-integrated and they support claims in the paper very effectively
• quotations are well integrated, presented correctly, and not over-used
• quotations, in-text citations, and reference list formats conform to APA conventions
• no mechanical and grammatical errors
