Using the three works a Thousand and One Nights, The Tale of Genji, and The Bhagavad Gita explain, citing specific examples, a truth that is still relevant in our society today. What factors from ancient literature do we still find evident in our own society? Many of you have made some excellent observations in your class discussions, and you may want to build on those ideas. You should use quotations from the three works (at least three fully developed body paragraphs) blended with your own analysis and creative observations to support the points that you make. I strongly suggest you refer to the assigned sections in The Writing Guidelines for guidance. All of the focusing, formatting, citing, and developing questions are answered there.

Stretch yourself! This is the fun part!

You should not use any outside sources, only the textbook with the introductions to the sections and your notes from the mini lectures. Please submit your essay to the Assignments site by the due time in GeorgiaView. No excuses please!

I do not like giving an arbitrary word or page count. Your creation needs to be long enough to cover your topic and detailed enough to include explanation and quotations that have led you to your arguments. However, many students find that a page count is helpful; therefore, a fully developed essay should be about four pages. Be careful not to confuse quantity with quality. The more effort you give your essay, employing the guidelines in the writing module to develop your ideas, the more successful your essay should be.

The grading rubric is associated with this assignment. I encourage you to examine the grading categories and comments. I encourage you to access it and the Peer Review questions that are available in your News. Plagiarism detection technology is used in this course.
