Design a poster based on your research of the NYS criminal justice reform listed below.
“Raise the Age”
In your poster, provide information (as concisely as possible) on the following questions to the
best of your ability. Your probably won’t find answers to all these questions but give it your best
effort.
1. What changes have been made in your chosen reform compared to the old law? • Summarize
the key changes. Don’t just copy and paste. Your poster is going to look really messy if you do
that.
2. What fosters the changes in law or practice? (e.g., a specific incident? A realization of social
injustice?)
3. What changes have occurred after the implementation took effect? • Are they positive changes
or negative changes? (e.g., crime rates went up/down after the reform? The public is happy or
not happy with the reform? – you can do a simple news search on Google – keep in mind that
many news articles are reflections of emotions/opinions, but NOT scientific evidence.
4. Anything else that you think is interesting for us to know regarding your chosen reform?
