Commercial awareness is an important skill to demonstrate at interviews and in assessment centres when applying for spring programmes/summer internships/placements.  The more you are able to demonstrate this skill the more likely you will be successful with applications increasing the chances of securing highly skilled employment on the completion of your studies.  To become more commercially aware you need to start building the awareness from an early stage in your academic journey and this assignment is designed to encourage you to start early though researching a company of your choice.

Requirement

You are required to choose a business that offers spring programmes, summer internships, or placements and demonstrate a commercial awareness about it and the industry.

For your chosen company you are required to write a short essay (500 words max.) that answers each of the following questions:

• What is the nature of their business and their main product(s) or service(s)?
• Who are their main competitors in the market and how do they compete?
• What are the biggest issues facing the business/industry today and how does it impact them?
