Using the concepts of proletarianization and professionalization, analyze the impact on teaching of the Charter and of the situation described in Trying to Teach, and discuss what they signify about the political, economic and social environment within which teachers work.

Use course materials and outside sources, both secondary and primary. Your answer should be approximately 2000–2500 words (eight to ten type-written pages) in length.
