ASSIGNMENT

Research which resources are important in your assigned country (you will be asked to share this information with your classmates as a Participation Activity in the next week or two).

Using RELIABLE web-sources (hosted by reliable organizations link the CIA, the World Bank and the FAO), find out what the major renewable and non-renewable resource exports for your country are (textiles, clothing, cars and other manufactures items don’t count).

Make sure you include the top exports of renewable resources (agricultural products, energy, timber) and top non-renewable resources (minerals, fossil fuel, etc).

In addition to the statistics for these, you should also examine the environmental impacts that the extractions of these resources (you can draw on class material of the resources you looking at are covered).

For one of the key resources that you feel is of major environmental concern in your assigned country, you should find ONE academic paper that talks about the Environmental damage from that resource in your country.

This must be an academic source, you should use Google scholar to find it. If you need help using google scholar please ask your instructor, your TA or a Penn State librarian.
