Childhood Models of Learning

Purpose: Students are able to use the first stages of two major Cognitive and Social Developmental theorists and apply them to practical, real-life scenarios like choosing childcare, while also exploring how the needs of a developing child can change rapidly in some contexts and stay consistent in others.

Post: Suppose that you are a parent and you are looking for childcare for your infant or toddler. Given what you have learned from Piaget and Erikson in these chapters, discuss:

• Three specific qualities you would be looking for in a childcare facility • Why you would want these qualities specifically • And how those qualities may or may not be different as your child moves from infancy into toddlerhood.
