Paper is for English 102

1) An introduction (an introduction must do the following three things)

a) Hook an audience with an opening that captures the attention of the audience. (This hook can be an interesting but little known fact, a meaningful quote, a brief story, a relevant joke, etc.)

b) Argument(topic, stance on topic, and the three arguments you are going to use to support your stance).

c) Create a memorable closing that leaves the audience wanting to read more.

2) The body of the essay (at least five paragraphs)

a) Paragraph # 1 (argument)

b) Paragraph # 2 (argument)

c) Paragraph # 3 (argument)

d) Paragraph # 4 (opposition)

e) Paragraph # 5 (response)

Note: You can write more paragraphs, but not less.

3) A conclusion

a) A transition to let your reader know that you are concluding

b) A summary of the paper

c) A memorable last line (think of this as a bookend to your opening hook)

 

B) Works Cited Page at the end of the essay

1) You must have at least five full MLA 5 citations (you can have more, but not less)

2) The full citations should correspond to the in-text citations in the body of the essay

3) The full citations should be in alphabetical order
