Media Coverage Analysis
- Collect 4 articles from the internet that discuss mental wellness/mental health, or provide an account of an incident involving a person with mental illness.
It is particularly effective if you can find coverage of the same story or event from different news sources.
- Analyze and compare the way each article depicts mental illness or people with mental illness.
In the articles, find and display 5 examples of stigmatizing or stereotypical images and language found in the article(s).
Write a summary explaining alternate ways of reporting the story that would not perpetuate stereotypes of people with mental illness.
Write your opinion based on describing your thoughts, reactions, attitudes, concerns, and/or questions about the articles you read.
Add your own words and give your two cents. make sure you explain your opinions (back them up with facts)
