The Impact of Baking Soda and Peroxide on Teeth Whitening
Purposes
The main purpose of the research is to ascertain whether the use of toothpaste with peroxide is more effective compared to the use of toothpaste with baking soda. Both peroxide and baking soda have a reputation for whitening teeth. The project aims to help users ascertain the most effective alternative, considering factors such as the whitening effect and its abrasiveness of the two alternatives.
Another purpose of the project is to determine which alternative between peroxide and baking soda works faster in whitening teeth. Although both are used as options in brushing teeth, the two substances have intricate qualities that enable them to bleach the teeth, maintaining their white color at different paces.
Hypothesis
Is toothpaste with Peroxide more effective than toothpaste with Baking soda?
Which one works the fastest in making the teeth whiter?
Toothpaste with peroxide is more effective compared to toothpaste with baking soda, considering it turns teeth white faster due to its natural bleaching qualities and comfort associated with its use over the use of baking soda.
Materials
2 Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Baking soda
Peroxide
2 dishes
Artificial teeth with stains
2 Stop watches
Water
Procedure
Mix the toothpaste with baking soda in one dish and the toothpaste with peroxide in another dish
Apply the tooth paste with baking soda on one of the tooth brushes
Apply toothpaste with peroxide to the other toothbrush
Physically brush a tooth using the brush with baking soda and set five minutes on one of the stop watches placed beside the petri dish with that tooth.
Brush the second tooth using the toothbrush with peroxide and also set five minutes on the stop watch place beside the petri dish with that specimen.
Observe each stop watches to notice when they have stopped counting.
When the stop watch stop counting, wash the tooth on the adjacent dish in the water and place it on a dry and clean surface to dry.
Do the same for the next tooth one the stop watch stops counting.
Observe the changes in the teeth regarding the stains that were initially on the teeth
