In what ways may cognition and emotion be related to each other?
Develop your argument critically evaluating empirical evidence from psychological research and neuroscience.
You should define what an emotion is and describe its components. Next, you should describe the main theoretical approaches to emotion (biological and cognitive perspectives), and discuss whether they support independence or interdependence of emotion and cognition, providing relevant empirical evidence that needs to include work on the cerebral substrates of emotion. Finally, you should provide a clear conclusion. You will need to engage with wider readings, which may include deeper analysis of studies briefly mentioned in the slides/during the lecture, the supplementary readings or some additional, empirical papers that you can find independently.
