Addressing Social Problems or Issues in Indianapolis
Identify and research a social problem or issue in Indianapolis that you care about and write a paper detailing what you would do to address that problem if you were the mayor.
In this paper:
Briefly provide details and background information on your issue and discuss what is actually being done to address it by local government and community organizations (if appropriate), and very briefly explain the city’s government structure and where the mayor fits into that structure (all of this should take about 1-2 pages maximum)
Present and discuss your own ideas and proposals to address or resolve the problem, drawing from (and citing, with page numbers) concepts and materials from this course to bolster your assertions. (This section should constitute the bulk of your paper, 3 pages or more)
In your Conclusion, you will briefly describe the intended consequences of your proposal, anticipate the unintended consequences, and defend why you believe your alternative would be an improvement over the current situation (this should take up about 1 page)
Include a bibliography (a.k.a. reference) page listing all the works that you cited in the paper, including course materials and your own research (online articles must include full references, not just URLs)
