This course will use articles, videos, and other forms of media extensively. These are part of the material covered by the exams. You will also be required to keep a written journal containing your information and notes on ALL of the items on each list, which includes all of the assigned articles, as well as the videos, contained in the modules prior to the due date.
Upload the typed journal in .docx format. Handwritten notes are not accepted. You must number each entry and include the title of each. DO NOT CREATE SEPARATE DOCUMENTS FOR EACH VIDEO. However, each journal should be separate, i.e., Media Journal 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.Number each entry.
The media items are under each Module and the comprehensive list for each journal is under Files: MediaJourna11.pdf _Make sure you write up each entry on this list!
The journals need to:
• Demonstrate your grasp of why the video was included in the module;
• Describe the video or article, its theme and subject and relate it to the topic for the week, including the textbook or readings;
• Describe the locations in the media (both globally and locally) and time frame;
• Describe the people and cultures and how they were represented in the media;
• Identify and explain at least two specific and relevant anthropological concepts related to the item, and place the terms in bold;
NOTE: This is the most important component of the assignment! Here is a list of potential terms, but it is not exclusive. Anthropological Terms.pdf L Do not simply repeat the same terms! You must clearly apply them to the video or article.
• Identify things of interest from the media. Include your notes in the journal.
Note that these are just guidelines and all of the items listed above will not be relevant, depending on the media. Every entry, however, should have relevant anthropological concepts.
DO NOT SIMPLY TRANSCRIBE THE WORDS!
