In a well written, well argued two page, 12 point font, double-spaced essay, please answer the question below. Essays should have a thesis that is defended by relevant references to the videos, “Turner” or “Van Gogh” or Henrik Ibsen’s, A Doll’s House, or “Rothko”. Please focus on only one artist.

Question

How did either Turner, Van Gogh, Ibsen, or Rothko hope to change those who viewed their paintings, or, in the case of Ibsen, those who saw (or read) his plays?

The phrase, “the world” may need to be understood more narrowly. That is, “the world” could refer to their personal world of viewers. Why was the place in which they found themselves significant to the art that they created? make certain that the thesis is narrow enough that it can be defended in only two pages—that is the challenge of the assignment.
