1) Be able to Explore the challenges that gendered approaches make to traditional understandings of the study of the international
2) Be able to understand and assess the contributions of feminist and queer theories to explaining and evaluating international relations and international political economy
3) Be able to acquire knowledge of substantive empirical material relating to key topics in the fields
4) Be able to apply theory to understand and evaluate empirical cases
Choose any contemporary event (war in Afghanistan) or trend to act as a case study which you must examine using a ‘gender lens’.

Use feminist and/or queer theories to analyse your case study and provide concrete examples to illustrate and support your argument.
Length: 20 minutes
Preparing your presentation will involve creating the PowerPoint slides, and adding voice commentary in the form of embedded sound files.
