ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

Part 1: You must complete parts A, B, and C:

a. Tell classmates and your instructor about your chosen topic for the final presentation and provide a brief outline of the main concepts. NOTE: YOU WILL NOT WRITE THE FINAL PROJECT IN THIS ORDER. YOU ARE SIMPLY PROVIDING A BRIEF INTRODUCTION/EXPLANATION OF YOUR TOPIC AND AN OUTLINE.

b. Choose one type of memory and describe its neuroanatomy and neurophysiology (how do the neurons and synapses in those regions change as a result of the experience? Explain why this topic is important, to whom, and identify at least one application of the research. Use our text (Bear, M., Connors, B., & Paradiso, M. A. (2020). c. Find and play an online memory testing game. Play when you are tired and alert, before and 20 minutes after a cup of coffee, or compare two other situations of your choice.

 

Part 2: Choose ONE of the following (300 words minimum and ONE recent peer-reviewed source to support your claims):

a. Explain the topic of false memory research and discuss some of the most compelling discoveries, their effects on the legal system, and how you, friends, and family may experience and argue about memory errors. What parts of the brain are involved in memory errors?

b. Explain the neurobiology of a memory disorder, its symptoms and diagnosis, causes, and possible treatments.

c. Explain a memory enhancement method and how it might affect the brain.

d. Explain the effects of ONE of the following: technology, society, genetics, general health, sleep, education, physical activity, nutrition, drugs (legal or illegal), environmental toxins (lead, etc.) on one or more forms of memory.
