Assignment task
Written literature review (1500 words) and accompanying 7 min recorded presentation (100% weighting – both weighted equally). Both parts are to be submitted together at the end of the module.

The literature review is to be based on one of the three set topic areas: Perception, Attention, or Memory. See lecture slides about the literature review component for further details on how to develop and set out your work.

For the presentation, students are to design an experiment in order to answer the research question that arose as a result of their literature review. Students will then compose a 5-7 minute PowerPoint presentation to describe this experiment. See the lecture slides about the presentation assessment for further details of how to set-out your slides. The presentation needs to be recorded, which can be done using the Screencast-o-matic software (free download) found here:

Learning Outcomes related to the assignment:
1. Critically evaluate research and theory in the area of cognition and neuropsychology.
2. Explain the appropriate application of research methods to examine neuropsychological questions.
3. Apply thorough knowledge of research and theory in cognitive and neuropsychological areas and evaluate this information.
4. Demonstrate an ability to synthesise theory and practice using research in cognition and neuropsychology.
