Covid-19 has changed the world in ways we could have never imagined — in personal life, business, and in our careers. Many companies and employees have not gone back to a fully-staffed company. Others continue to work from home or in a hybrid system – half work, half home, while others wish to continue to be totally remote. All of these changes provide many challenges. Many will never return to the traditional work environment as we have known it.
Two key areas will be vitally important as the world moves forward into this new horizon of how we work and conduct business in a global economy — leadership and communications.
Some might say that this is a ‘golden’ moment for public relations to create change and make a difference. As communicators, what is the role of public relations and communications professionals in paving the way forward as we move into an era of change? This is your opinion based on classroom discussion, your own feelings experiences, observations, etc.
Consider the following as you provide your opinion:
1. Do you feel that a hybrid or a totally remote environment can be effective in business and in communications?
2. How can organizations be effective in cohesively managing remote, hybrid and in-office workers through strategic communications?
3. What are some of the challenges you foresee for PR professionals?
4. What are the skills you feel are paramount for a PR professional to possess in this environment? Think strategy, not just tactics!!
