Incorporating library databases and Internet research, conduct a news search on your assigned country (Canada) and criminal justice related issues, type a paragraph summary of at least

six (6) news articles, and cite the article in the text of your analysis and at the end of the assignment in proper APA format. Your news articles should be recent(within the last three (3) years). Some News Sources database include (but are not limited to) LexisNexis,

World News Connection, and Newswires. Internet news searches should include BBC World News,

The Economist, The Guardian and The New York Times.

1. Statistics

For the second part of the paper you will collect, analyze and compare homicide statistics compiled by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). First, collect longitudinal homicide statistics on your assigned country (including historical and the most recent years available). Second, analyze your countries homicide statistics by answering the following questions:

• Do you believe the crime statistics in your assigned country are reliable? Why or why not?

• Has homicide increased, decreased or remained constant for the selected years?
• From your research, can you speculate why crime has decreased, increased or remained constant?

Finally, compare your assigned countries homicide statistics to the United States and

Germany for the same period. Create a small chart comparing all three countries. How

does crime compare between your assigned country and the United States and Germany?

In your opinion, why does your assigned country have less or more crime than the United States?
