To be successful you will need to…
• Ensure that you discuss one of the key themes which are relevant to your policy-The key themes are Cultural Competence, Social Justice and Empowerment.
• Include and apply relevant theory.
• Discuss the origins of the policy particularly thinking about social, media and political influences.
• Evaluate the origins of the research that informed your chosen policy. Consider why the research was undertaken, who conducted it, if it was in response to pressure from social groups, if it was undertaken to repeal or replace existing policy.
• Clearly identify your international policy, make sure that you talk about that countries approach to welfare provisions overall and consider what policies they have in place which most closely match your chosen policy. Discuss if the international appro.
• Talk about how governments may implement policies, which may result in the oppression of people, and which hinder anti-oppressive practice, or how governments implement policies which promote anti-oppressive practice, you must provide evidence to support your arguments.
• For large and complex policies, you may wish to select just a component of the policy for analysis and comparison, this is acceptable, however, you must still discuss the wider context of your policy and you must ensure it is clear what element of the policy will be your focus.
