1) Discuss the content of the R v Jordan decision (briefly): what Charter right was engaged, how that right was interpreted by the Supreme Court, and what is the remedy for violation of that right. R v Jordan is a decision of the Supreme Court of Canada on the right to be tried within a reasonable time. It is required reading for Module 4 and will also be discussed in the powerpoints for that Module.

2) Find at least 3 recent newspaper articles (in the past 2 years) that reported on various issues related to R v Jordan and, using those articles and any other relevant sources discuss the impact of the decision on the accused, the prosecution, the court system, the victims of crime, and the justice system generally.

3) Provide your evaluation of these impacts and express your opinion: has the impact of Jordan been largely positive, negative or has it produced mixed results? Please make sure to explain why/how you arrived at your conclusion.
