HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS IN LACTATION

INSTRUCTIONS
For this paper, you will write an essay examining the use of nutrition supplements/remedies in lactation. The questions (1-5) below should all be addressed in the essay, but you can include other concepts/ideas related to the topic as well.
Questions:
1. What nutritional remedies/supplements does the public use to increase milk production? Discuss at least 5.
2. Examine the evidence (academic research articles) of the use of these remedies. Remember, examining means to scrutinize, test, observe, and investigate. Be sure your answer does this!
3. Discuss at least 5 other ways (besides nutritionally) a mother can improve her breast quantity and/or quality.
4. Investigate the potential dangers that nutritional supplements/remedies pose for a mother and her infant and outline the physiological reaction that causes the danger (ex: taking x supplement increases the blood pressure of the mother). Discuss at least 5.
5. Analyze the health care provider’s role in guiding mothers to safe and effective herbal supplements in lactation.
