Discuss an example of historical institutional racism and how it has contributed to the current racial wealth gap.

• According to Jacobs 2003, the road to equality for the case of women issues has hit many detours because of the slowing down of entry of women in male dominated fields.

 

• The author nots that although many women complete college, they face resistance ascending to top job offices due to competition, segregation, and oppression.

 

 

• Similarly, the rate at which women enter core occupational areas such as, firefighter, Ivy League university president, astronaut, and basketball player has equally decreased Jacobs, 2003.

 

• Jacobs 2003 reports that women have been stereotyped and segregated at the workplace because filling male dominated fields tends to raise societal questions regarding the femininity of the woman.

 

• According to Jean Kilbourne’s 2014 speech “killing us softly” she outlines that women have been objectified in the world, which is the first step towards dehumanization and then violence.
