It is unlikely that you will get to observe a CEO, however, it is interesting to see whether Mintzberg’s framework also applies to frontline and middle managers, depending on where you can undertake your observations.
QUESTION: Did your observations provide evidence for the classification of the 10 roles into either three categories: interpersonal, informational and decisional; or did you see more evidence in support of Shapira and Dunbar’s two category classification: information gathering and decision-making (applying information)?
