Assignment Task – Poster
There are two parts to this assignment, a poster presentation and a report. The ‘My
Assignment’ iLearn page of the module has links to submit both. Additional notes on
poster presentations were included in the module materials.
The two parts of the assignment are unequally weighted: the poster presentation is
worth 30% of the overall mark and the report is worth 70% of the overall mark.
Create a poster which:
(a) describes the extent of child poverty in the UK, and
(b) advocates one policy that would reduce child poverty in the long term.
(1,000 words equivalent)
this is not possible
the highest is 5 hours
i have given you too much of time for just 1000 words
this is absolutely unacceptable

Hi Christopher,
I have looked at your report – it is very good. I think there are just a few points to consider:
1) Could you include greater sociological theory?
2) Are all the points you make backed up with evidence?
3) This is a ‘To what extent’ question – so you would need to include at least a paragraph which shows that some people can achieve within society by using their skills (there are lots of rags to riches stories). The education system in particular is trying to be more inclusive – i.e. some students from low socio-economic backgrounds can go to Oxford and Cambridge etc. This side of the argument does need to be considered (and backed up with evidence).
4) Your references in-text need to go before the full stop, not after.
5) Just check your spelling of ‘meritocracy’.
6) Also, just check your references on the Reference List – you need to ensure you include the publisher and place of publication.
7) If you could make a few more direct links back to the question, in the report, that would also be beneficial.
Hope this helps.
Many thanks
