Macro Supervisor Plan
Students will prepare a brief macro supervision plan to include and assess policy practice and social justice issues at the macro level. Please identify a community in which you are the “supervisor” and then identify a macro level issue that may impact the work of one of your supervisees. Develop a brief vignette around what your supervisee brings to you as an issue their client is facing because of the macro level challenge. You will develop a plan for an intervention with the supervisee for how to address the issue at the MACRO level to help improve overall services for clients. Paper will use scholarly writing style and APA formatting, double spaced, 4 pages in length, not including the cover page and references. COVER PAGE AND REFERENCES a must!
Outline:
I. Describe the socio-political context:
Region of state (where you are working) ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO
What are the relevant social welfare issues of that region – Child abuse and neglect OR ANY MACRO LEVEL BUT REGION ALBUQUERQUE, NM
What are the local, state and/or federal policies that have created institutional oppression in the region that perpetuates the social problem.
Select one specific social welfare problem to focus on in supervision with your supervisee.
II. Describe and provide a rationale for the types of interventions being used to
improve the identified social welfare problem at the macro level.
What are the client’s access and barriers to resources and/or services (Macro level)
III. Explain the Supervision method to engage the supervisee in an examination of
policy practice and macro interventions.
Supervision model
Evaluation method
Type of supervision (individual, group, live etc.)
How will you evaluate the supervisee and measure success
IV. Develop a brief vignette for your supervisee that will illustrate how a social
worker advocates for agency or governmental policy change.
(Example: I am a supervisor in Espanola, NM at a drug rehab facility. My supervisee is a new MSW and is seeking supervision about how to work with a client that will be discharged soon with no home to return to. The client is not eligible for many services as he is undocumented. How would the supervisee advocate for a macro level policy change?)
