Sociological imagination

The objective of this assignment is for you to explain in your own words Mills’ concept of the sociological imagination and apply the sociological imagination in an analysis of personal experience.
After reading and viewing the information from Weeks 1 & 2, you need to take a familiar experience and ‘make it strange.’ Specifically you need to:
Define:
-Define, in your own words, and cite with page numbers from the Conley text and the Mills’ reading Mills’ notion of the sociological imagination
Making the Familiar Strange:
-Describe the personal experience of your choice in your paper- this is the ‘something familiar.’
-Explain what it means to take the familiar and ‘make it strange’ (cite appropriately)
History & Social Structure:
-How is your personal experience historically situated? How is it affected by and how does it affect history?
-How is this experience influenced by social structure?
-What is the relationship between social structure and personal agency?
Each section should be 150-250 words. Look at the rubric – there are 3 sections that have to do with content and one section that covers formatting.
