Part 1 (300 words)
Based on the provided accounting data, compute the Capital Adequacy and Profitability ratios (at least two ratios for each) for the last 9 years (2012-2020) for:
a. the Bank you are assigned
b. its main national competitors (preferably the 2 largest competitors);and its
main competitors in the global market (2 global competitors).
Show your findings in tables in your report and comment briefly about these findings, based on ratio analysis and information provided in annual reports, macroeconomic data and published news.
Part 2 (300 words)
a. Define the degree of Liquidity Risk, Capital Risk, Interest Rate Risk and Credit Risk of the Bank you analyse based on ratio analysis (at least one ratio for each); and
b. compare your bank to its main national competitors (preferably the 2 largest competitors) and its main competitors in the global market (2 global competitors) that you used on Part 1, during the period 2009-2020.
Your analysis will be based on ratio analysis, the information provided in annual reports, macroeconomic data and published news. Please make sure that you show your findings in tables in your report, you mention the steps taken to compute the ratios and you comment briefly about your findings.
Part 3 (700 words)
a. Critically discus show forth coming changes in banking regulations that relate to Basel agreements are expected to affect bank risks in general (200 words).
b. Propose any suggestions regarding the examined bank’s management strategy so as to:
i. minimize risks,
ii. maximize profitability, and
iii. cover the requirements of regulation regarding the risks of systemic banks in the forthcoming years. (500 words).
Critical discussion should be based on findings in books and published papers in academic journals.
Part 4 (200 words)
Briefly evaluate the industry structure and competition in European Union and make suggestions to regulators for improvements in these areas. Your evaluation should be based on findings in books and published papers in academic journals.
