The essay should contain th e following components:
• Analyse the case study in relati on to children and families
social work , whil st making links to research findings and
theories if that is what you want to do (This is a choice but
don’t spend too much time on research finding )

• Demonstrate a critical and comprehensive understanding of
the theoretical and research base underpinning social work
practice with children and families – two theorie s

• Critically demonstrate knowledge of legislative, policy and
practice interventions in social work with children and
families and show the application of this to practice.

• Critically consider any possible ethical dilemmas and
tensions that arose during your involvement with the
child/ren and family

• Demonstrate an ability to apply safeguarding and risk
assessment practice by considering relevant assessment
models and risk assessment frameworks

• Consider the impact on children and family of social work
practice

• You will want to include important components of children
and families social work, such as: multi-agency working,
risk assessment, child/ren ‘s needs, direct work with
children, parenting capacity, and environmental factors.
