Written report
For the written report you need to imagine you are a sustainability officer who has been set the task of writing a report to analyse the extent to which your chosen company meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and how these can be used to enhance the company’s sustainability profile, making it more resilient to current and future challenges. You should:
Complete a sustainability profile of the company by gathering data from a wide range of sources (LO1)
Fully research the UN SDGs by gathering data from appropriate sources (LO3)
Critically analyse the extent to which chosen company meet the UN SDGs (LO2)
Indicate any recommendations for changes in corporate practice and strategy from a perspective of improved levels of sustainability. Recommendations should stem from your original analysis of issues and reflect improvements in the company’s future sustainability (LO3 & LO4)
These tasks will require:
an understanding of the current company position, including market size, market share; industry and market trends and main activities.
the consideration of issues related to the company’s sustainability stance (issues could include but are not limited to: environmental impacts, animal rights, environmental action, political involvement, calls for boycotts / consumer protests, employment issues, marketing policy, community involvement, political donations, various product issues, supply chain management and ethical sourcing etc).
an understanding of the relevance of the UN SDGs in the context of organisational practices and strategies
