Description
Using at least three recognized models for school counseling, compare and contrast different ways that you might deliver your school counseling program. Imagine that you are in a job interview and you want to show the informed panel that although you understand the fundamentals of a few (at least three) different models, you prefer to use whichever model you chose. Defend your position and illustrate how it might work at this school setting.
Create a story line that shows off your skills and qualifications as the most capable school counselor for the opening. Imagine what you might say in an actual interview to demonstrate that you know the available models and how best to apply them within the framework of your program.
You may choose to submit this discussion post as a written script of the interview with quotations; as a traditional academic paragraph addressing the prompt; or as a recording where you demonstrate what you might say in a real interview (lasting no longer than 1–2 minutes).
For example:
I might describe what I appreciate about both strengths-based models and social justice models, but then note the gaps that I recognize and why I believe the ASCA National Model provides a more robust framework from which I can incorporate (strengths-based, social justice, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), solution-focused, or your choice) those aforementioned models.
Have some fun with this and assume you are the expert in the room.
