Identification, Treatment, and Management of STEMI
ASSIGNMENT:
Construct a 10-15 minute (narrated) PowerPoint presentation on a disorder within your assigned system (see below). To complete the assignment, you will create the scenario based on how the alteration typically presents.
TOPIC:
STEMI (S-T ELEVATED MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION) *****PLEASE DEVELOP ANY SCENARIO. PATIENT WOULD PRESENT TO ED (emergency department), MAYBE A MALE, IN HIS 40s, HISTORY OF SMOKING, HYPERTENSION, AND EXTREME STRESS RELATED HIS JOB. (MAY NEED TO ADD MORE TO SCENARIO)*****
Presentation will include:
1. Introduction of scenario:
a. Example: John Smith, 65-year-old male presents to the ED with complaints of increased shortness of breath even after increasing his home oxygen from 2 to 5 liters. Mr. Smith has a history of smoking, COPD, home oxygen, and hypertension. ED providers suspect John is experiencing Acute on Chronic COPD exacerbation.
2. Comprehensive description of the chief complaint, including presenting signs and symptoms.
3. Interpretation of the pathophysiology and clinical manifestations related to the disease process; differentiate between adults and children.
4. Explanation of the common labs and diagnostic studies used in identification and diagnosis of the problem.
5. Options for management and treatment. Include pharmacological and non-pharmacological.
6. Discussion of cultural and social cultural considerations.
7. Prognosis and expected health outcomes.
