Culture Paper First Draft & Peer Review(s)
Purpose:
Compare and contrast the personal and business practices of a different country or culture with your own cultural norms. Share your findings in a way that can help someone from your culture prepare to do business effective with that culture.
Task: Working from your culture paper abstract, perform additional research about your chosen culture or country focusing on what you consider to be potential ethical, professional, or intercultural issues when doing business in that country.
Your draft report should include:
A brief historical overview of the culture
A comparison of the notable elements of that culture compared to your own
An explanation of potential cultural issues of doing business in that country and how to mitigate them.
These issues may include:
– Ethical problems
– Global inter-cultural conflicts/misunderstandings
– Differences in the norms of “professionalism”
Address these issues from a neutral perspective, not just your own personal point of view. You are not taking sides. You are comparing and contrasting with the intent to inform others.
Recommend an approach for someone from your culture to create the most effective business relationship possible when working with people from this country or culture.
Include a list of references and sources for your information in an appropriate format.
Deliverable: A first draft written term paper. For full credit, you will also be required to peer review at least two other student’s papers and provide thoughtful feedback that can be used to prepare your presentation. See below for more information.
Length: approximately 7-10 full pages (not including references, abstracts or title page)
Formatting: Double spaced, 12 pt. font, APA, MLA or other professional formatting style of your choice (must be consistent)

Peer Reviews: At the end of the day on the assignment due date you will be automatically assigned two papers to review by the system. You will then have until the assignment close date to review those papers and submit comments. Providing thoughtful, constructive, peer review comments is an important part of your total grade for this assignment. The peer reviews will be worth 40% of the total points for this first draft paper so please put effort and quality into the feedback you give to your classmates.
