Assessment 1 is a reflective journal (equivalent to 2000 words) submitted individually based on a group project experience.
The group project involves the development of an innovative solution to a social/environmental challenge following the innovation process and design thinking approach. The potential solution may include an innovative product, service, process, procedure or technology.
If you did not participate in any group project during the semester, you must develop the innovation individually.
Contact the module leader to discuss your challenge and innovation idea before the submission. Use the activities proposed in each seminar from week 1 to 6 to support the innovation development. These activities will be the base of your reflective journal. The seminar activities are available on Blackboard (Learning resources).
The reflective journal should not exceed 2,000 words excluding references and appendices (there is a tolerance of 10% in the number of words).
2. DETAILED ASSESSMENT GUIDE AND STRUCTURE:
The suggested areas to explore in the reflective journal are:
• Empathise exercise and group formation
• Define exercise and group dynamics
• Ideate
The reflective journal should chart your reflections and reactions as the group project or the individual innovation process progresses. It should illustrate the theoretical and practical interconnection, the evolution of your knowledge development, and the rationale for making decisions.
Your reflective journal should capture what caused you to learn, innovate and change during the innovation process following the Design Thinking approach.
The reflective journal assessment will consider the width of topics covered, the depth of learning, and the journey you describe.
