TUTORIAL ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

OVERVIEW

Introduction

The tutorials are practical exercises in applying data mining fundamentals. They are mostly designed as step-by-step outlines of how to apply a specific data mining tool to real-world problem sets.

Goal

The goal of each tutorial is to give you hands-on experience applying data mining principles and sophisticated statistical algorithms within a software environment. The completion of each tutorial will further strengthen your understanding of how statistical data mining software offers capabilities to address real-world problems.

INSTRUCTIONS

Requirements

You must complete the assigned tutorial. Completion includes:

• Having performed the steps outlined in the tutorial ; and
• Write a 150+ word response summarizing the types of analysis completed and how they may be used in your data mining project.

The current version of the software is 13.5 while the tutorials in the textbook were written for version 12. Therefore, you should expect that a few of the menus have been changed, and some functions have been relocated. Expect to poke around a little bit if the screenshot provided in the textbook does not exactly match your screen.
