Social Research Methods Qualitative Assessment
For this assessment, you will produce a portfolio made up of 3 reflective responses, each 500 words
long (so the overall assessment is 1500 words long – not counting the bibliography, which doesn’t
form part of the word count).
The three questions for you to reflect on in the portfolio are:
1. Critically reflect on the research process in qualitative research. Is it linear? Is it simple? Is it easy?
2. What can qualitative analysis tell us about the social world? What claims can we make based on
qualitative data?
3. What issues of ethics and representation do we encounter in qualitative research?
