You are the curator of a small online exhibition
This paper will consist of a virtual exhibition. Create an exhibition of 5 to 7 works that illustrate that theme. Choose at least one work from each of the lessons leading up to the final. The works can be anything found on Visual Note-Taking Guides or the ARTstor sets EXCEPT comparisons that come from different periods or cultures. IMAGES TO BE USED FOR PAPER ARE INCLUDED BELOW. THE THEME IS “Self-Portraiture”.
This paper will consist of an introduction (tell us about your theme, and how you are tracing that theme through these works), minimum 1.5 paragraph per work (explain how each one relates to the major theme, why you chose it, what it can tell us about its particular time period/culture/context, its meaning/function and its intended audience). Finish with a brief conclusion that ties everything together. For more information, please see the grading rubrics document (next item in this resources list).
Citations/Bibliography: All of your material may come just from course notes and readings. If you rely on any material that doesn’t come from your class notes, you should provide bibliographic citations in the form of footnotes or parenthetical citations. If you use parenthetical citations, please include a bibliography at the end. If you use footnotes, be sure to give complete bibliographic information the first time you refer to a source, and then you can abbreviate in later references (and you can avoid a separate bibliography). 100 points. We will base 25% of the grade on the introduction and conclusion together, 65% on the discussions of the individual works, and 10% will be reserved for an overall score that reflects simply turning in the PowerPoint and the effectiveness of your choices, your grammar, and punctuation, etc. Please see the grading rubrics and best practices document posted in the pre-Midterm module.
