Write a 8-10 page paper on your emerging theory. You must base this theory on at least two other theories, at least one of which is the focus of a chapter from the required textbook, and you should take into account biological, psychological, and social aspects of human development. In describing your personal theory of change and counseling, you should comment on: (a) the assumptions and beliefs you hold about people’s capacity to change, (b) the conditions that must be present to produce change, (c) how you view the role of the counselor as a therapist, (d) how you view the role of the client in therapy, (e) how you view the relationship between the counselor and client, (f) what are the central techniques and methods necessary to achieve therapeutic goals, (g) how your theory takes into account multicultural considerations and (h) are there clients for whom your orientation may not be suited. You must cite professional literature in your paper, using at least five sources outside the required textbook, at least one of which must have been written by a major founder of one of the theories from which yours is drawn.
