Reflection journal # 2

Status and role define the position of people within the family as well as behaviors they are expected to perform. What are some of the statuses and roles found in families in your community? How have these changed over time?

This reflection asks you to analyze kinship relations in your own family, drawing on materials presented in class, including readings and lecture presentations.

How do you define “family?” Is your family similar to, or different from, other families in your community? What are some of the kin-defined roles or statuses in your family, why do you think they exist, and how are they performed?

REQUIREMENTS: Your reflection should be between 500 and 750 words, not including bibliographic citations or references, and written in a first-person perspective (i.e., using “I” pronouns). Your submission may be either single- or double-spaced and must include a bibliography or works cited.
