Description:
Task:
Case Study Analysis
Aim/Rationale: Humans services organisations are complex. In order to transition into the human services organisational environment, students will need to develop essential skills and knowledge in navigating systems, processes and people. This case study analysis offers students the opportunity to identify key issues, tensions and challenges, as well as ways they can work towards positive change in the context of work within organisations. Students will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a ‘critical friend’: a fellow student also enrolled in this current offering of the course, who will offer constructive feedback on the change strategies suggested. This activity will prepare students to the collegial and collaborate nature of work in human service organisations.
The following is a SUGGESTED report structure, based on the assessment questions. You may adapt them, however you will need to ensure you cover the criteria:
What are the key issues presented in the case study video?
What ideas, theories and concepts covered in the course are relevant to your understanding of the case study?
If you were in the situation depicted in the case study video, what would you do? What needs to change and why?
What personal strengths or challenges would you bring into a HSO, if you were in the situation depicted in the case study? (Include the outcome of the discussion with your critical friend).
