“State legislature has three key responsibilities lawmaking, power of purse and oversight responsibilities. As a state legislator, I would want to bring public attention on the agendas of interest for public institutions to gather support. The budgetary process gets very close attention by the media. Once the agenda gets public attention, it will inevitably catches media attention as well and this will put pressure on governor and executive branch to consider the agenda with keen interest (Hillman, 2015). Secondly, I would aim to match the institutions common interests with funding or resource distribution. I will advocate by bringing in knowledge the prior institution achievements and by securing funding, it will help them in attaining the final goal. In terms of legislative role, as a State legislator, I would first promote the importance of the bill among other legislators and the short and long-term consequences if the bill gets approved.
