Vancouver Rape Relief Society has been incorporated since 1975.
Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter is a non-profit organization and a registered Canadian charity.
Purpose: Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter is committed to advocating for women’s equality. Our centre works as an active force dedicated to challenge the social attitudes, laws and institutional procedures that perpetuate male violence against women and children.
Provides safe, secure, temporary shelter and support for women with or without children, who are fleeing violent relationships or are at-risk of abuse, threats, or violence.
Accepts male children up to age 19 on a case-by-case basis.
Accepts refugees and refugee claimants, as well women from out of province.
Length of stay is 30 days.
High-barrier house; must be able to live cooperatively and take care of oneself and others.
Gives women a safe and supportive living environment with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, and nutritious meals.
Personal identification (ID) is not required.
Cannot accommodate pets, but will arrange for temporary accommodation with community partner
24-hourRape Crisis Centre provides support to all females who have experienced any form of male violence (sexual assault, battery, rape, incest, prostitution, trafficking, and sexual harassment).
Crisis centre services include telephone and in-person peer counselling, support groups, transportation, medical and legal accompaniment, support to affected family and friends, advocacy with police, and other advocacy support such as form completion assistance
