Write a paper that applies the 2 dimensions of Sue & Sue’s model to a selected household. The selected household can be found at this link: https://www.gapminder.org/dollar-street/families/butoyi.
Apply the 2 dimensions of Sue and Sue’s Multidimensional Cultural Competence Model to your selected household.
Dimension 1: Race and Culture-Specific Attribution of Cultural Competence: Describe the ethnocultural characteristics of your selected household by answering the following:
What is the identified race/culture?
Identify 3–4 key values and beliefs associated with this culture from the course material.
There are more key values for any selected culture, but for the purposes of this assignment, we will limit to 3-4 of the more salient key values that you selected. Be sure to expand on each key-value and explain why this area is valued within the culture.
Make sure the 3–4 values and beliefs are from outside sources. Examples of outside sources to be used can be McGoldrick, Giordano, Garcia-Preto (3rd Edition) textbook instructions available in a library.
Dimension 2: Components of Cultural Competence: Describe the areas of awareness, knowledge, and skills that you do not have in relation to this household.
Awareness:
What is an attitude/belief that you think maybe getting in the way of you understanding this household?
What are your reactions to seeing the pictures listed under your selected household?
Any unexpected reactions to seeing the living conditions that shed light on your own assumptions or biases?
Any differences from your expectations versus what you experienced?
Knowledge:
What is a knowledge component of cultural differences from your own culture and your chosen household’s culture that you lacked prior to reading about the racial group in dimension 1?
Are you aware of more knowledge components that you may lack based on your preliminary research?
Any areas of further research that looking at this area shed light on for the future?
Skills:
Are there any skills that you lack if you were to try to communicate with your chosen household?
Would there be any barriers due to not understanding the cultural custom, language, socioeconomic, geographic, or another component of their culture?
Consider if there are skills that you can develop on your own and skills that you may need to develop?
