Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 2 of Power and Society: An Introduction to the Social Sciences, the Types of Questions (Links to an external site.) web page, and view the An Animated Introduction to Social Science (Links to an external site.)video.
This course is structured so that in each week you work on a section of your Final Paper. Therefore, by Week 5, much of the groundwork will have already been laid out for a successful final project. Consequently, it is very important to take special care with these discussion prompts, as careful work will save you much time later on.
This week you will continue with the social topic you selected in Week 1 Discussion 2 for your Final Paper, describing the ways in which inequality contributes to this topic and how the topic affects society. Use the feedback you receive from your peers and instructor in this discussion to help you complete your Final Paper Preparation Worksheet due in Week 3.
First, explore the following links to find one article from each of two different fields (so a total of two articles) that relate to your chosen social topic:
Anthropology Journals
Sociology Journals
Political Science Journals
Psychology Journals
Economics Journals
In your initial forum post, include the following:
Describe, in brief, the social topic, and explain how this topic affects society.
Discuss how your two articles address the social topic differently.
What questions are asked in each of the articles?
What are the main research goals of each of the articles?
Refer to the Social Science Research Guide in the Ashford University Library or search for your two scholarly articles
