1. Compare the circumstances that lead to, and the consequences of, river floods versus flash floods.
2. Describe the distinctive characteristics of glaciated landscapes and the processes by which they were formed.
3. Explain how aeolian processes can have both destructive and constructive effects on the landscape. Provide an example of each.
4. What methods have been employed to control flooding on the Mississippi River and tributaries? How have their combined effects led to a cumulative improvement in the security of the riverine environment? What improvements in the current system could you suggest? Why?
5. In your opinion, who is responsible for the loss of life and property in the La Conchita landslides of 1995 and 2005? Would understanding the processes of mass wasting have helped prevent the tragedy? How?
