You are an analyst in the energy investments unit at Blackrock. Your boss says to you: “The global situation looked bad going into the COP27 meetings. The Chinese weren’t talking with the Americans. The Russian war in Ukraine turned the world upside down. The Europeans are desperate for more coal, oil, and gas this winter. It looked for a while in Sharm el-Sheikh that nothing at all was going get done. Yet, in fact COP27 turned out to be really consequential. Maybe it wasn’t all good and maybe it wasn’t enough, but lots of people were there and a lot got done. We need to take stock as part of our 2023 strategic planning. Write an analysis of the COP27 summit that tells us who the stakeholders are and give us some kind of framework to help us explain what did happen.
